The Clocksmith official cover art by DeviBrigard The Clocksmith official cover art by DeviBrigard
EDIT2: The published book is available for purchase on Amazon.

EDIT: Ready for the second edition (long story, serious misprint). Fixed some size/positioning issues, and majorly upped the shininess factor :la:

This is the cover art for Cody Brown's novel The Clocksmith [a.k.a the complete novel of which Captain-Random's DD-awarded The Clocksmith Chapter One was the first chapter's draft]

The book is set to be released on the 1st of March and he is running a giveaway for a free copy on his website
So I am officially a cover artist, and now that my computer is up and running again it is time to start building up my portfolio :la:

There is honestly not a single thing I would change about this.

Vision: This caught my eye because it looks like a leather-bound, gold-embossed classic. It has a sense of weight, age, and just the right amount of dust. You have a clear vision of how this book should feel, not just what the cover should look like.

Originality: I docked you a star because it would look suspicious if I gave you five stars for everything. This is just because it references a classic style that was once more popular, but it would stand out on a modern bookshelf so you earned the other four stars.

Technique: Leather texture is spot on. Gold embossing looks like it has three-dimensionality and captures the light perfectly. Font matches the theme but is still easily readable. The circular design work on both covers is eye-catching, and is well balanced with the text. The very centre of the front cover design looks a tiny bit odd as if it's molten gold, but it took a good deal of studying the design before I even noticed.

Imapact: If I saw this on a bookshelf, I would want to buy it, and ultimately that's what a good cover is all about.

Beautiful. I really like the design. This cover makes your book really looking some kind of antique like from the late 19th century. The design on the front gives a bit of a mysterious/magic feeling as in it good be interpreted a lot: A clock, a wheel of time, a wheel of life, a zodiac circle whatever. Golden colour just deepens this impression and also gives it a solid and luxurious look.

I wish that you will have lots of success with it as I am sure you will have :)

Thank you
You have managed to pick up on a lot of the book's themes from the cover alone~
The cover is made to resemble a book within the story, and the circular design is meant to resemble one of the clock-like calendars used in the story's world, albeit somewhat stylised.
